The UCLA Hospital System, comprised of the top ranking UCLA Medical Center Westwood, Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the Santa Monica Hospital, provides both routine and specialized care for millions of patients in the greater Los Angeles community and from around the world. The medical center is the primary teaching hospital for the UCLA School of Medicine, with resources comprising more than 1,400 full-time faculty physicians, approximately 800 residents, interns and fellows, and more than 3,500 support staff.
UCLA Medical Center’s ranking as one of the top academic health centers in the nation is based on outstanding clinical and research programs in, among many others, transplants (UCLA is considered the largest "multi-organ" transplant center in the nation), AIDS, geriatrics, urology, cancer, and arthritis.
The UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital is recognized as the western United State’s premier comprehensive mental-health system.
UCLA Hospital Systems accomplishments for the fiscal year included: (1) successful completion by UCLA Medical Center (Westwood campus) of its consolidated accreditation and licensure process for the next 3 years; (2) approval of a far reaching strategy alliance between Orthopaedic Hospital and UCLA by the University of California Board of Regents that allows for new and expanded programs for patient care, research and education; and (3) the continuation of our master planning process completing the schematic plan phase with broad participation by faculty and staff.
