The School of Theater, Film and Television offers professional training and academic study in all three media. With a curriculum that bridges the boundaries between the arts to provide each discipline with opportunities to inform and develop the others, the School offers two undergraduate and several advanced degrees with specialized study in acting animation, critical studies, film production, playwrighting, producing, screenwriting, stage direction and theatrical design and production. Students benefit from a multitude of courses and facilities dedicated to state-of-the-art digital technologies.
The School also serves the public and the professional field through the UCLA Film and Television Archive, with preservation and restoration activities, public programming and educational programs. The Geffen Playhouse is a professional theater providing the community with the finest in contemporary and classic plays while serving as a key educational resource. The School also has an extensive professional education program, offering certificates and courses in screenwriting, advanced screenwriting, producing and screenplay mentoring.

1997-‘98 MILESTONES INCLUDE:
The George Burns Trust donated $1 million to support two endowments: (1) the George Burns and Gracie Allen Scholarships/Fellowships in Comedy, and (2) the George Burns Endowment Fund, to be used at the dean's discretion.
A $2.5 million gift from the Gwen and Ray Bolger trusts established a new and unique undergraduate program in musical theater.
The Fran and Ray Stark Foundation donated $500,000 to enhance the existing Peter Stark Memorial Scholarship in Film Directing.
