Renowned for its innovation in nursing education, The School of Nursing continues to be a leader in providing advanced training and education. The school has been recognized for moving traditional nursing preparation into the mainstream of university education and for leading important trends in development of nursing curriculum. Its faculty members are widely recognized for their research into areas such as heart disease and cancer.
     The school's master's-level programs prepare students for careers as nurse practitioners in areas such as primary care and acute care, and for important roles as nurse administrators. Students move beyond the classroom to train at the UCLA Medical Center and a school-operated clinic for low-income residents in downtown Los Angeles. Students who earn Ph.D. degrees are prepared for careers in research or nursing education.		  

1997-‘98 MILESTONES INCLUDE:
zpinbl.gif (960 bytes)  Recruitment of seven outstanding new faculty members in tenured positions who will enhance the research productivity of the school and continue the excellence of its academic programs.
zpinbl.gif (960 bytes) The AD/BSN/MSH program was started for registered nurses with associate degrees to complete their baccalaureate and masters degrees in as little as three years.
 zpinbl.gif (960 bytes)  Eleven of the professors who are nurses and all but one associate professor in the School of Nursing are now fellows of the American Academy of Nursing.
