The School of Theater, Film and Television offers professional training and academic study in all three media. With a curriculum that bridges the boundaries between the arts to provide each discipline with opportunities to inform and develop the others, the School offers two undergraduate and several advanced degrees with specialized study in acting, animation, critical studies, film production, playwriting, producing, screenwriting, stage direction and theatrical design and production. Students also benefit from courses offered in state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to the study of digital media.

Additionally, the School serves the public and the professional fields through the UCLA Film and Television Archive, with preservation and restoration activities, public programming and educational programs. The Geffen Playhouse is a professional theater providing the community with the finest in contemporary and classic plays while serving as a key educational resource. The School also has an extensive professional education program, offering certificates and courses in screenwriting, advanced screenwriting, producing and screenplay mentoring.

2000-'01 MILESTONES INCLUDE:
   The estate of Azadia Mamoulian, widow of film and theater legend Rouben Mamoulian, donated close to $1 million to establish two Mamoulian Chairs in Theatrical and Motion Picture Directing.
     Alumnus and renowned screenwriter Mike Werb was named as the first TFT endowed chair holder. Werb will hold The Lew and Pamela Hunter/Jon Zakin Chair in Screenwriting.
   More than 238 awards totalling $737,000 were presented to students, including the George Burns and Gracie Allen Scholarships/Fellowships in Comedy; the Jack Nicholson Prizes in Acting, Directing and Screenwriting; the Streisand/Sony Fellowships; the Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production Fellowships; the UCLA/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Film Directing and Screenwriting Fellowships, the Ray Bolger Scholarship in Musical Theater; and the Natalie Wood Acting Awards.
