The UCLA Hospital System, comprised of the top ranking UCLA Medical Center Westwood, Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the Santa Monica Hospital, provides both routine and specialized care for millions of patients in the greater Los Angeles community and from around the world. The medical center is the primary teaching hospital for the UCLA School of Medicine, with resources comprising more than 1,400 full-time faculty physicians, approximately 800 residents, interns and fellows, and more than 3,500 support staff.

UCLA Medical Center’s ranking as one of the top academic health centers in the nation is based on outstanding clinical and research programs in, among many other specializations, transplants (UCLA is considered the largest "multi-organ" transplant center in the nation), AIDS, geriatrics, urology, cancer, and arthritis.

The UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital is recognized as the western United State’s premier comprehensive mental-health system.

UCLA Hospital System’s accomplishments for the fiscal year included: (1) UCLA Hospital System was one of the few academic medical centers across the country to be profitable despite significant reductions in reimbursement; (2) broke ground for construction of the UCLA-Westwood and Santa Monica-UCLA replacement hospitals;  (3) UCLA Medical Center selected as “Best in the West” for the 11th year by US News & World Report.
